HOW IMPORTANT IS A BALANCED DIET?

There are 6 main types of nutrients: water, carbohydrate, proteins, fat, minerals and vitamins. Each type has a different function in the body.

Nutrition is an important factor in the development of pets. Wrong diet will lead to various diseases such as malnutrition, obesity. Providing inadequate nutrition for pets, especially in the early stages, will greatly affect the musculoskeletal development as well as the physiological and mental development. In the opposite direction, providing too much nutrition leads to obesity causing many types of cardiovascular disease, cough due to internal organ compression, etc. This is especially serious for older pets. Therefore, a balanced diet will bring the best health for your pet.

HOW TO FEED YOUR DOG TO ENSURE NUTRITIONAL BALANCE?

A reasonable diet means ensuring adequate provision of nutritional needs for a pet at a time, no excess and absence of shortage. To do so, we have to build a diet based on the following points:

Firstly, depending on each breed we have choices of different diet. For example, there are very small body breeds such as Pomeranian, the diet, the amount of food can not be as much as the big dogs such as Phu Quoc dogs or German Shepherds.

Secondly, depending on each stage of development, we have different diets such as: a 8-week-old puppy needs to eat 4 meals/day. When it is 3 months of age, it should be fed 3 meals/day, 2 meals/day for dog of 6 months of age. Serving size and diet for puppies aged 3 to 7 months is the most important because this is a period of bone formation and rapid growth of dog. When the dog reaches 1 year of age, just give the dog a light breakfast and a full meal in the afternoon.

In addition, we should note a few more things as follows:

- Never feed the pet with the food that is rancid.

- Regularly let the pet chew the calf bones to clean its teeth as well as help the pet feel more playful.

- The amount of food per day, in addition to depending on the breed and development stage, also depends on the level of movement of each pet.

- Do not feed the pet too much, so that the pet is interested in a hard cookie or a large bone to move the jaw muscles → that will be much better for the teeth of the pet.

- Meat is the most important ingredient in the pet dog's daily diet, in one form or another (not necessarily expensive meat, which can be canned or dried meat, i.e the pet must eat enough of its daily meat content).

- Absolutely never feed the dog any small bones (chicken bones, duck bones, fish bones, ribs, etc.) because they will break apart and pin on its throat or intestines and cause intestinal damage.

- Absolutely should not feed the pet a number of types of food as follows:

+ Food mixed with scallions, onions because these will destroy important components in the blood of dogs.

+ Squid and octopus are a very difficult-to-digest seafood.

+ Candy, chips, peanuts, pasta, sausage, alcohol and beer or spiced sauces. Such foods can make the pet dog sick or there are certain types of dogs that can be addicted, so they refuse to eat their necessary rations.
